Default a few question's on checking my timing on my B18c in my crx

i bought a timing light. and i remember last year when a watch'd a guy use a timing light on my crx. that he jumped the jumper!! do i have to do that? and why?

also my dizzy is right in the middle spot(in between going retarded and advance). and i hook'd up my timing light. and where the 3 marks in a group are on my crank pulley(the middle mark is red!). the mark on the timing belt cover that you use. is not within those 3 markings!! the mark show's it's above the 3 marks(as in between the 3 marks and the 1 mark that is away from the group!)

and in order for me to get the mark on the red middle mark on the 3 marks. i have to advance my dizzy(move towards the radiator) almost all the way over!!
thats not right, right!?!

if it is not right. how can i fix that?

i hope i explain'd that good !!

thanks

Yes you have to jumper the SCS connector. That tells your ECU to leave the spark timing alone, NOT to make it's own adjustments.

Mine isn't right in the center either, but it's not ALL the way over. Does your timing light have an advance dial on it? Set it to zero when you do this.

ok right now o have my dizzy set advanced to make up for the markings. to have the mark in the 3 marks area.

so should i put my dizzy back to center, then jump the jumper. then do the timing?

no my timing light doesn't have any adjustments on it. it's a $20-$30 one from autozone.

thanks

Just jumper the SCS connector & re-check the timing. The ECU probably only made small adjustments while you were doing it before.

when you move the dizzy towards the radiator you are retarding it.
clockwise is retard and counterclockwise is advance.

ok thanks. i wasn't sure!!

JimBlake: i jumped the jumper then check'd the timing. now the mark was way off the other way!! so i now got it right. but the only thing is. is that my dizzy is alittle bit turn'd towards the radiator(retard'd as i just found out!) now! but know way as bad as it used to be.
is that fine?

thanks
