felpro cam seals leaking how many of you had problems with them?
wanted to see if I got 3 defective sets in a row? or its a common occurrence with those.
post if you had leaking seals when installed properly(according to service manual)
don't ask how i did 3 times i needed them last minute and didn't have any spares
1st one i replaced with stone and leak stopped
2nd one engine i returned them and got another set but they kept leaking from the seal not around it because i covered it with silicone that time
3rd one is on the engine about 1000 miles and also silicone around it but still leaking around the seal where camshaft is.
and are the beck&arnley and victor reinz better quality?

im gonna have to just order few sets to keep in a box lol
I also had no problem with seals that came in the STONE rebuild kit
none of the stone seals leaked in the 10000 miles that I had the engine

We use Fel-Pro seals & gaskets at our shop regularly and have never had an issue with the seals. Are you certain that you have not damaged them during install, or had a sealing edge fold over? You should not need to use any silicone on the cam seals. And you're sure you are getting the correct seal?

Correct. Grease or oil; should be dont on all seals, on the inner lip during installation. I just assumed you would have done that, but I probably shouldn't assume that. Were the seals installed correctly?

in last 3 years ive done about 10 complete rebuilds. d series and b series and fixed many more in between.
the ones that I didn't use felpro seals didn't leak
I go to autozone 2 minutes away from the house and pick up a set when I don't have time to order its the correct part

this right here. i always order extras of common parts, or parts that need replacement when doing relatively common maintenance. extra front and rear mainseals are helpful to have on hand too.
about the felpro - ive used them before and they weep a tiny bit but havent had issues with them pissing out oil. i think fel pro is turning into junk, i bet they got bought out at some point in the recent past.

autozone fail.
tried Timken seals and they list wrong size for b16 so fn tired of wasting time with local stores...
I measured the felpro outside diameter its 43.05. anyone has diameter for oem seals?
or other brands?
would be good for reference

speaking of timkin, avoid their bearings at all costs. i think they used to be a decent brand way back when, but idk maybe they got bought out. i was having their wheel bearings go bad in a matter of months. if autozone is your thing over oem for whatever reason, go with the duralast over timkin

I've replaced leaking Felpro cam seals in a few vehicles (F22, D16, D15...) with no more than 50k miles on them that were hard as a rock and brittle. they fell apart when i removed them. I like to use NOK when i can.
