Default erick's racing throttle body install -pics inside-

as of going to there site they said(and i have also heard elswhere that all throttle body's are basically the same for b,d,h,and f series honda and acura engines,

now i have a d16y7, which is the SOHC NON VTEC, with the vertical throttle body, and the idle air control module is connected to the throttle body itself, making for some extra parts when installing this throttle body or any other im suspecting, but on to the point.

ok so i go to install this goodie and as i take off my map and tps from the old throttle body i notice that the ericks racing tps point or where the inner sensor attaches to the new throttle body is aboiut 2 or 3 degrees back from where the stock one was, i.e. the stock one was at 12 o'clock (pic 1) and ericks racing is at about 11 o'clock (pic 2), so this caused a few worries. but i said f*ck it put it on see what happens, so i put it on and it doesnt idle worth poop, so i try changeing the tps angle a bit to see if i can get it back in spec, but it doesnt seem to be able to adjust far enough back to make it 0, so i try adjusting the idle screw, nope no change, the only way i can get it to idle is if i adjust the throttle plate to be open alittle,

so i called erick's racing and i think per the fact that they are busy and dont have hands on knowledge of my exact situation they didnt quite understadn exactly what was going on, so i was told this

the TPS shouldnt make a difference, once it gets to about 15% throttle the map sensor takes over,

The Tps has nothing to do with idle, the idle control screw will fix that,

ok i dont really beleive that, because i know everytime we do a motor swap here and we change out a broken TPS we have to adjsut it to make it run good at all, so how would just blowing this sensor off as not important mean the car was running right.

so im asking you all, have you ever installed one, how did it go, did you have to modify the TPS so it can be adjusted more.

Whoever told you that had their head up their *** and didn't know jack about the PGMFI system on hondas. The TPS voltage should vary in a linear manner from .5v closed to 4.5 volts at WOT (give or take .5v) Get a decent volt meter and check it. There is a little play in senor mounting bolt holes but not enough to make up for more than a few degrees.
