D16Y8 cam gears suck
My stock aluminum camgear on my d16y8 shredded the cast-in key off so I go pick up a new camgear at the local Honda dealership and when I stick it on the cam it wobbles back and forth, probabally about 1/2 a tooth worth...this means when the camgear broke it widened the keyway in the cam...
I'm trying to think of a way to get rid of the stock crappy aluminum camgear so i dont screw up another camshaft, but cant use the 88-95 steel camgears w/ seperate keys because the indexing on the cam is different....
I'm thinking of getting another d16y8 cam, and an aftermarket cam gear (that is hopefully stronger)....
Anyone had these same problems, or can think of another way to prevent seeing this problem again?
