cooling issue
A victim: Accord Wagon with F20B3 engine.
Replaced:
-coolant twice (system has been flushed before)
-thermostat
-radiator
-3 (three) rad caps (one new and two used in working condition)
As the engine is getting hot the coolant is pushed out to the reservoir- normal. But when the engine cools down the coolant is supposed to be sucked back to the system, but it's not... So after a few starts/stops the reservoir is overfilled (of course coolant is on the garage's floor) and the engine starts to overheat.
What is the reason of such a situation?
I'm sure fans are working...
Help.

Re: cooling issue (pentaq)
Check the hose over to the reservoir. It should be airtight & it needs to extend all the way down into the reservoir. If there's a leak in that hose, it's like trying to drink thru a straw with holes...
Another thing to check, but probably OK since it's all new... Check the largest seal in the radiator cap & radiator neck. Any small nicks in the surface will suck air instead of coolant as the engine cools down.

Re: cooling issue (JimBlake)
Oh one more thing... The reservoir cap doesn't screw in well. It was squeezed before so the inlet hole is like oval shape. I'll take a closer look at the hose...

Re: cooling issue (pentaq)
The reservoir cap doesn't have to seal to the reservoir bottle. There's an air vent there anyway.
Use a vacuum tester (MityVac or some kind of syringe) to check the tube. Disconnect it from the little nozzle at the radiator cap, & try to suck coolant out from the reservoir bottle. If you get air bubbles, then you have to figure out where they're coming from.
