Default Converting a P08/P30 ECU from auto to manual

I've got an automatic P30 ECU running my manual P72 B18C.

I recently found this post http://getglitched.com/pgmfiwiki/www...utoManual.html and i really do wanna perform this "mod".

What i need to know is (because i am an uber newb) what does a jumped RP17 look like, as the site did not provide a picture.

Better yet, anyone with any pictures on how to perform a jump on an ecu would be a huge help.

Tried using the search function but i think its on the fritz right now cos it said my search entry was null "something or rather".

What is a jumper wire? A piece of wire used to make a connection. In this case it's connecting two holes with a wire/low value resistor.

Follow these easy steps and the conversion will not go wrong.

First of all I like to clean the area I'm working on the ECU board with 90% Alcohol so it takes off the protection coating. This makes desoldering and soldering much easier and cleaner. It's not required though.

1. Remove RP17 and RP18 resistors. (Use provided pictures as location guide)
2. Find a small gauge wire or use a staple or desolder J12 resistor and put it aside. (Use J12 resistor if you want factory look)
3. Leave RP17 empty.
4. Use either (staple/wire/J12 resistor...really up to you) from Step 2 to connect the two holes on RP18. Should look like pictures attached.
5. You are done...

The pictures below is a factory chipped PR4 manual ECU. Pictures are examples only.

How about showing that on a P08. The P08 board looks nothing like a P28 or P06.

Look on the back of a p08 ecu, look for rp18 and rp17...
Remove rp18 and rp17 & jump rp18

Hello guys!

I know the thread is old but I hope someone still reads it and help me with my problem. I've read all the posts in every page of how to convert the ECU from auto to manual, and when I decided this morning to make the convertion in my car, I got a big surprise because the board and circuits are, I think, different from any pictures I've ever seen of that kind of ECU.

I'm attaching some pictures I took of it. My ECU's code is 37820-p08-900 ARJ. My car is an EG8 with a 1.5 SOHC D15B Vtec. The engine was swaped 2 years ago and the technician who did that job couldn't turn off the light, so I took off the bulb from the dashboard to get rid of the annoying light. The engine didn't give me any trouble before, but now that I'm trying to improve the performance of my car buy tuning the engine a bit, I want to solve all the errors of the ECU.

Right now, the Check Light is giving me 3 error codes: Code 19 which is the Automatic Transmission Lockup Control Valve, Code 9 (CYP Cilinder Sensor) and Code 20 (Electronic Load Detector). I was wondering if these two last codes (9 and 20) are because of the Auto ECU.

Hope u guys can help me with my problem quickly. Do I have a wrong ECU that is not P08? What do I have to do in my type of ECU to get it to manual transmission?

That ecu is a automatic p08 ecu.
To convert it to manual, you must remove rp18 and rp17 and jump rp18 with a 0hm jumper wire. That will resolve the code 19

The ELD code can only be resolved by installing a chip which doesn't look for eld.
The code 9 is likely related to the distributor or distributor wiring on the vehicle.

Thank you very much for your quick answer Mtber!
Yesterday, finally, I did change the ECU to manual. I found those little (bastards) resisters, at the back of the ECU, as many people said in the threads. Funny is I looked there days ago, but because they are so tiny, I mistooked them for soldering points (I was hoping to find the big resisters, like the pictures of other users above). So for all the people who has a JDM P08 ECU and are having trouble finding them: look very closely at the center-back of the ECU. I coudn't get a picture this time of the job, but I am posting the resisters RP17 and RP18 I have taken off (measures: 3mm x 1 mm).

So today in the morning I took my car to the mechanic to give a maintenance/repair of the distributor. He cleaned the interior and changed the o-ring (it was leaking oil). Then I made him scanner the whole thing. So now apparently I got rid of the Code 9 and Code 19... but code 20 ELD is still on Do you have any ideas on how to solve that error code without a new chip? I live in Peru and get a new chip here is quite expensive.

You need to start your own thread and give WAY more details. Year/make/model/trim/engine/ecu/mods/check engine light on to start?
