coilovers! coilovers! coilovers! UGGHHH
I've decided to go with coilovers instead of lowering springs to drop my ride and I wasn't sure what kind to get. Do they all use basically the same spring rate befor compressed. Because I wanted a really stiff ride. also how do I know what the spring rate is when buying the spring and after I've putit on the car?

are you talking about adjustable springs or threaded body coilovers?... the spring rate stays the same whether it is on the car or off the car so i'm not sure what you are asking...
when you order something like Skunk2s or Ground Controls you usually order a car specific set where they have different spring rates set for different cars... for the Skunk2s its set at 400f/300r for Civics and 500f/400r for Integras and i don't remember the other apps... Ground Controls also come with vehicle specific sets but also allow the option of ordering separate rate Eibach ERS's so that you get any stinking spring rate that you want...
now threaded body coilovers don't usually let you choose the spring rate if you're going for a company like Tien or A'PexI... if you're going for something like a Truechoice set up then they'll ask you what kind of rates you want to run...
the spring rates vary from company to company and from product to product... if you're looking at something like Skunks or GC's DO NOT FORGOT THE SHOCKS... i know from experience that you don't want to be riding around on stock shocks... hope that helped

Better shocks (i.e. Koni DA's) will have a much more positive effect on handling than coil overs with stiff springs on stock dampers. Remember, Stiff ride does not equal good handling.
