Carbon deposits in the EGR valve can cause it to stick open a bit and cause a rough idle. If it is bad enough, the engine will stall out when you slow to a stop

1st check ur timing..make sure its top dead center when u do it. after that check your dizzy, if that fails then it may be the injectors or faulty map sensor

^ Like they said, check the mechanical and ignition timing.

Any chance the TPS and MAP connectors are switched around?

Is there a check engine light?

Y8 head doesn't use EGR, and a P28 wouldn't know what to do with it either.
