Battery keeps dying.. Alternator is GOOD.. WTF??
I was on the dyno, and a strap broke my car his the rail on the side and jacked up my fender. Ever since (2 days ago) my car wont hold a charge. Ill charge it, it will start up okay, but die after about 10 minutes or so. Lights are dim as ****.. SPEEDO does NOT work!!!! the tach stops working right before the car dies. I took the alternator to auto zone and it checked out okay. I have not a clue. Is there a fuse somewhere to cause the battery not to get charged?
Its a 99 Civic SI please help

Did you check for a short somewhere, possibly in the harness? This would cause a draw and kill the battery.

start off with a parasitic draw test where you disconnect the negative battery cable then hook up amp meter inline with the neg cable and negative top battery post then with all the loads off and car off measure the amps it sould be about 0.20 or less if it is more you have a parasitic drain.

if it blows again their is most likely a short usually i find them in the engin bay under the intake mani their are 2 junctions one is very close to the motor mount and if your motor mounts are worn the will alow the motor mount to rub the wires causeing a short

sometimes a hard jolt like that can cause electrical systems to do wierd things. i've seen speaker amplifiers blow fuses, or the amp fry completely because of a car wreck, or it was jolted. you never know.
