Bad idle (not an IACV problem) help?
My car idles rough. Sometimes it will steady out, other times it will chug and drop below 500 rpms, othertimes it will swing up at 1000 and then level off for a bit and then chug back down again. My IACV was already replaced before for a hunting idle problem, this is a totally different idle problem. This is on a 94 GSR.
My vacuum only reads 15 inches of merc. Stock cams, 9:1 comp pistons, greddy turbo 550cc injectors and a hondata. I presurized my manifold with a smoke machine but no leaks could be found.
Compression test is great, running compression test is great, leak down test only shows 4% leak which is excellent.
Durring my crappy idle my AF meter is all over the place, plus my exhaust is a bit poppity and fails the "paper test." The exhaust is even a bit poppity at 2k rpms in neutral. For example, it will throw out a few quick pops and then be good for about 5 seconds and then throw out another few pops.
So do you guys think this is a vacuum leak or something more serious? Also, the O2 sensor has been replaced.

I have the same exact problem - right down to the details. I have no idea what it is though
edit: Only thing I noticed about my problem that you did not mention was this: If I pull the spark plug wires out of the cylinders one at a time (replacing it before I pull another one), the cylinders do not have the same "strength". For example - if I pull cyl 1 then the motor will heavily bog and then rev to compensate. If I pull cyl 4, then the engine barely bogs and revs only a little higher to compensate.
My compression is fine and the spark plugs, wires, and distributer are new.

Re: (navin)
It is a Hondata idle issue. I had the same problem with my car.
Adjust the slider for the IAC control in RomEditor further to the left (at least in my case it was), burn a new chip and try again.
