b16a timing belt skipped a tooth
got a quick question; my b16a's intake cam is off by a tooth, one tooth retard actually, was wondering if that would affect the cars idle? the idle kinda surges as if it has a vaccum leak and almost stalls. the car runs fine and i'm planning on re-adjusting the timing belt this afternoon, just wanted to make sure nothing else could be a problem. i'm pretty sure that this is my problem, but never hurts to get a second opinion.

Re: b16a timing belt skipped a tooth (EG civic)
put the belt on right, put both cams in time, starts up fine only problem is after it warms up it runs like ****. doesn't have any power, doesn't smoke though, and wants to stall and fall on it's face. any ideas, it is in need of some new plugs, but ran fine on those plugs before the timing belt situation.

Re: (skunk_duece)
actually my ecu's messed up and for some reason doesn't store codes (in the process of sourcing a new one) i just check the compression and it came up with 175-180 across the head. i have adjustable cam gears and i adjusted them a bit and it seems to run better. i'm wondering now if it could just be a little bit out of time. also i've got a surging idle after it warms up, kinda like a vaccum leak. and i've got a little smell of gas from the exhaust.
