Default B16 vs itr head ?'s differences

I know this is going to be a stupid question but i have been searching threads for a good 3 hours trying to find answers but have come up with none. If some could please just direct me to the right thread or tell me the answer that would be great.

I was wondering what the difference between the b16 head and the itr head. i already know about cams, springs, retainers. i am wanting to know what is physically different between the 2.

I am building a b18c5 turbo block and i have a 2000 civic si, i just wanna know if i should build the head of the stock civic or if it would be better to get a itr head and build it. Thanks

ITR head casting comes from the factory with mildly hand-polished ports, though I may be wrong.

No, if you get a decent port job, it will flow BETTER than an ITR head. The ITR oem 'porting' is only impressive when compared to other factory products. Any of the better known Honda head porters will make the b16 head flow much better. In fact, I would rather start with a clean b16 head than have to work around what is already done to an ITR head.

The valve train (hardware) is better on the ITR, but aftermarket parts will get you the same (or better) results. Also, search for the thread on using Prelude LMAs instead of spending the $ on ITR parts.

Best of luck with your project.

LMA=Lost Motion Assembly
It's the little plunger (lifter) under the rocker arm.
