B16 Oil leak! looks to be from vtec solenoid?????
#26
OK.. but what if I am getting an oil leak around the same area but instead of leaking down the side of the head onto the block/tranny I get oil mist shot straight up onto the bottom of the hood...right above the VTEC solenoid and pressure switch area. BUT the solenoid is dry as a bone and underneath the cam seal is dry as well. Only when VTEC kicks in I get oil shot straight up above the solenoid onto the hood and it kinda splatters on the spark plug wires and intake tubing. Under VTEC nothing ever leaks or anything. The pressure switch is kinda oily but everything else looks dry. Could I have a faulty pressure switch? Does oil even come close to that green plug/switch? I'm thinking it's gotta be either the cam seal, solenoid gasket (spool valve filter), pressure switch, or the distributor o-ring.

you could with hood open, rev the car and give power to the vtec sol. , so that you can see whats going on when vtec kicks in

Re: (mmuller)
VTEC will not engage when the car is just parked. There are many things that have to happen before VTEC will engage like RPM, throttle posistion, vehicle speed, oil pressure etc. And I can't see doing 30-40 mph to engage VTEC with my hood off to see oil splatter onto my windshield. I know where it's coming from I just need to pinpoint which one it is like my above post.

Re: (ElectronGS-R)
You can jump your VTEC solenoid to the battery, by-pass the ECU. The car does not have to be moving to do it. That is what mmuller is suggesting.
