Default '99 Civic Si-turbo... blow by (smoke) problem

ok guys heres the problem... i have a 99 civic si that i turbo'ed a month ago... it was running beautifully as 4psi of boost, stock motor... i didnt have a boost controller during this time... i ended up buying one (APEXi AVC-R) honestly i didnt know how to control the damn thing, but i was testing it and according to my gauge it was boosting 9+ psi... for a week i began to smell smoke (burning) while im driving didnt think much of it because i had an exhaust/manifold leak so i thought that may be why... one day i was going home from work and the check engine light came on and thats when i began to worry... code 71 and 72.. random misfire... the idle was kinda low and the exhaust was somewhat puttering... smoke was coming out of the breather of the valve cover not the exhaust so im burning oil from somewhere... (i was told it was called "blow by"). I was told i may have blew a piston ring or head gasket... did a compression test and number 2 failed by going only to like 40 while the other 3 went above 100... so i took the head off and there are no marks on cylinder 2 chamber which a bad piston ring could do and everything look fine, pistons not wobbling or anything... i already ordered JE pistons and Eagle rods which i should be getting tomorrow.. but id like to know what was the cause of this problem? anyone have any ideas what could cause blow by other than the head gasket or piston ring? thanks. sorry for writing a book hehe.

Did you physically remove the pistons? You may have broken rings. That is caused by poor tuning.

Stock Civic si + turbo = broken ring lands. I've seen this a couple times.
