95 Civic auto transmission slow to shift into 3rd
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the Forum and new to Civics, last weekend I bought a 95 Civic. It has 82K miles and seems to run great, the only problem I have noticed so far is that it takes longer than normal for the car to shift from 2nd to 3rd. I can force the transmission to shift to third by slightly letting off the gas but if I don't the car will rev to about 3800 RPM's before shifting. I know that is probably normal if I am going up hill BUT when I am on a flat road surface and not under heavy load the car just seems to wait too long to shift. When it downshifts from 3rd to 2nd it seems to do so too hard, I feel it hit 2nd and the car jerks a little after the shift. The other gears seems to shift fine. I had the transmission fluid changed but it didn't help. Should I add one of those chemical additives to the fluid that are supposed to help this issue or am I possibly needing a new transmission? Are there and sensors that might be bad or adjustments that I can make? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
