92 Civic...carbon button(s) in cap...1 or 2?
Ok, I might be onto something, here. My friend just had the plugs and wires replaced. She doesn't know if the distributor cap was replaced, but I think it was. The high-tension voltage travels out of the coil into the cap via the coil tower and from there it travles through a copper or silicone wire made into the cap to the center terminal which makes contact with the rotor button. Now, where the cap makes contact with the rotor button, it is a spring-loaded carbon contact button that makes connection with the center of the rotor button. At the other end, where the coil makes contact with the cap, is there suppose to be a carbon brush/button there as well, because there wasn't. It was simply a spring coming from the coil resting against the little metal contact plate in the cap? Is it suppose to be this way? Is there only 1 carbon brush (at the rotor) and just simply a spring connecting the coil to the cap?
Thanks,
Trav
