Default TruHart StreetPlus coilovers.

I have searched here, googled, and asked some of our vendors on these TruHart StreetPlus coilovers that are out now. I have found one good review on them and that is it. I know they are cheap and I try and stay away from cheap, but I put Yonaka coilovers on another Civic and they were actually very nice. Has anybody dealt with these TruHarts yet? If so, how were they, meaning ride quality, manufacturing quality, any issues? I have TurHart ball joints and control arms and they seem to be great, just not sure on the coilovers.

Thanks,
Aaron

Also, here's a link to them: http://store.truhartusa.com/product_p/th-h802.htm

Don't even bother. For $19 more (Delivered) you can get Progress CS II coilovers that are known to be great.

$550.05 plus shipping. Orders MUST USE Coupon Code HT.SUMMERDAZE (Coupon expires 8/31/2014)

True, I was looking at those. I found the TruHarts for $476 shipped. I will probably just go with the traditional Koni/ GC setup that we all love, I was just trying to get some reviews on the TruHarts.

I was reading earlier that TRUHART, Megan Racing and Hardrace are all made in the same place. Truhart even advertises using hardrace bushings.

And their UCAs look exactly the same too. It wouldn't surprise me.

Also their sport shocks are pretty clearly re-labeled Skunk2 sport shocks. Probably 80% of the commercially available stuff is just private label from the same factories. Doesn't mean it's bad, just something worth observing.

What are you gonna be using the car for? Just street driving, track, drag, etc?

I thought TuHart's deal was that it was all made in the USA?

I haven't seen that claim anywhere on their stuff.

Maybe they can legally do it like so much of the Taiwanese stuff. "Made in Taiwan" often means "made in China, shipped on a pallet, and then boxed in Taiwan"

After looking at a video and someother forums threads along with pictures, I would guess this is pretty accurate. The hardrace balljoint looks like the skunk2, and the truhart boxes look exactly like the hardrace. With that being said I may try out the Truhart camber kit unless PCI comes out with one.

Maybe they aren't, only the people who spec'd them from a manufacturer really knows. Wouldn't be the first time in my life that I was wrong. But they are F'ing close.

Skunk2:

Truhart:

As a previous owner of a set of Skunk2 shocks, I will vouch for their alright-ness. Not bad for the price point but not great either. They went down the tubes very quickly when they did, at about 40k miles. Would I buy again? Probably not. Do I regret giving them a try? Not at all.

EDIT: Holy crap, the price on them wasn't so bloated when I had them either. They're now about the same as Koni Sports. LMAO.

It should be noted that I was on H&R Race with them also, which are too low for pretty much anything, including Koni Sport without some sort of extended top hat.

I doubt anyone is going to come after me for making an observation. I've done my time here and I don't start crap.

Spadam- I have the skunk 2 sport shocks on my 89 Si Daily. They feel way better than the blown shocks that were on it for most likely the 280k it has. Definately not a race suspension or something for the slammed ride but an improvement.

For a budget suspension and not slammed out, I am sure either the truhart or skunk2 sport shock would be fine.

So on the truhearts and skunk2 shocks, it says that the body of the shock it self is shorter it self, would that cause the car to be lower as well?

No, they don't lower the car more, at least in the case of the Skunk2 ones. The distance from the perch to the mounting ring is the same as the OE ones. They are shorter stroke though, and the body above the perch is a bit shorter.

The overall strut length is shorter than oem. The stroke is shorter because it is intended to lower the car. The perch height is the same distance from the bottom of the strut, but the overall length is shorter. Most aftermarket struts intended for lower ride height will have a shorter overall length and stroke. "Adjustable coilovers" have the adjustable lower perch so you can raise it and lower as you wish. Some will have a preload perch also.

I've never used f&f or skunk2, but on the pic selects I have I can push the car to the ground if I wanted to but I don't. I don't care for that slammed look.

Correct. I was just clarifying that the shortened body is above the perch and therefore does not affect the ride height. With the shafts fully extended, they were a good bit shorter than the original shocks, and the H&R Race springs that I installed with them had the dead coils about halfway preloaded.

Coilovers are still working perfect, after 6mo, regular check-ups still happening.

now at nearly 1yr

Workin! Actually, idk jack about this company. I bought the coilovers when there photo's were good, as a test for quality. Every bit has been exactly as it should, and I'm still checking wear/leaks regularly, but haven't seen any. I'm pretty happy with my purchase.
Just a note: I am not contracted or paid in any way by this comment. You are getting an honest review of their product.
From me, see:
https://www.facebook.com/TruHartUSA

My only problem was they weren't quite that high.

SEE:

At the highest you could go w/o preload. Well, maybe you could, I like to run ~1" of lower unit thread, to make sure it is safe. They told me not to run preload on the springs, and I did, because f'it, I feel I know more then them.

gotta add this bit:

see the mirrors in my top photo, I added those :D

they work.
they were inspected by the DMV, and legal.
they are -STOCK- Honda mirrors!!! from a motorcycle (Hornet 600, 599, CB600-F6) :D
fit with parts for house water pipe :D

I kept 'em (stock shocks w/ H&R Race springs) for awhile, in case these leaked. I sold 'em a bit ago since these always worked.

Is there some other reason?

ah, nah. Sorta in respect of the early s500 (or 300-600).

They work.

Also hacking the stock mirrors to 2 cameras, the radio (Android :D ) has dual camera inputs, and I may hack the camera's to have direction controlled by the stock (power) mirror control.

Right now the car has one mounted inside:

Name: cameramountaccord.jpg
Views: 14834
Size: 31.3 KB

It runs whenever I am driving, I've had 4 people rear-end me in the past 2 years, it also shows the rearview mirror within view.

I made that, btw:
Name: cameramount.jpg
Views: 15152
Size: 22.7 KB
now it is painted It also has a digital storage camera (top pic was mini-DVD) so I can erase whenever, and it has a cable routed into to the armrest storage area (since I added USB power ports) for charging.
