Still getting squeaking sounds after fresh rotor and pad install
I just installed fresh new rotors and pads today for my fronts on my dc4 and I am still getting a squeaking sound from my right side. I replaced with autozone duralast rotors and pbr ultimates brake pads. But when I was doing the install, I found that I was missing my shims on both sides. I guess the previous shop I had to take it to threw them away. Can this be the reason why I am still getting that squeaking/squealing sound? but even without shims on both sides, I am only getting the noise on my passenger side. My driver's side doesn't make any noise at all. What can be the reason for this problem? thanks in advance.

did you use any grease on the back of the pads. even with shims you will get vibration without some sort of lubricant on the areas where the pads make contact with the caliper. I just did some brakes yesterday and used some spray called brake quiet.

No I did not use any grease or anti squeal. I didnt think i needed to since i had no shims. Im getting the squeal at all times the car is moving, not just under braking. Could it be the dust cover or something else that is touching? Since its making the sound at all times the car is moving , im guessing something might be touching. anyone else?

Yeah maybe the brake shield, and maybe the anti rattle clips. You really should put some lube on there to prevent the vibration you're hearing as a squeak.

I would take the pads back out and get some grease on any clips, piston surface, back of pads, etc ...
That will take care of any noise issues. Some times the brake pads will come with grease packs. Everything from Hawk Performance does. www.hawkperformance.com
Good Luck!

I have this problem too. My stock pad where making noises sorta like chipping and i told some auto shop guy to replace. After installing it with some fresh pad it even got bad. Alots of howling noises and strange things about it. When ever i driving fast i don't hear it but slow down it make noises and it annoying. Car kilo are low and I'm having problem with it. I'm thnking the pad are rubbing on the rotor?

For everyone with brake noise issues after replacing pads, did any of you do a proper pad bedding procedure after install?
I always had brake noise, regardless of backing shims or grease. Only after actually taking the time to scrub off all old pad material and lay down a fresh layer did they quiet down.
