installing lowering springs?
whats up.. how difficult is it to install coilover kit on a 96 civic yourself? if anyone has any tips or a good resource for info that'd be awesome.

Take off the struts and compress the springs. Loosen the nut at the top of the struts and slide the spring out while compressed and slowly decompress it. Slide coils over struts and put the stock top hats back on. Install strut into car.

well it is going to take some time especially if it your first time. I start with the front then back. The back is usually harder to install since the rear lower control arm bolt can be difficult to remove. I recommend using a breaker bar (long bar) and correct socket (no 12 point). Make sure you get the right leverage on it and if you can get the car on stands it will be much better (be safe). A spring compressor kit will be required and you may be able to rent one from your local auto parts store. When you remove the stock spring and install the new ones make sure you line them up with the top where the spring sat originally.. you will see it since it leaves and indentation. good luck!

i actually just installed springs(ebay lowering springs on a dc4)for my first time EVER yesterday.. the only hard part for me was getting the holes in my rear arms to line up when putting the bolt back thru.. its rly easier than i thought it would be.. better than getting it done at a shop for 60-140 dollars IMO...
........p.s. i called pepboys for a quote (bad idea) on the install and they said $320 just for install and i was like OMGWTFBBQSRSLYGTFOpepboys

Breaker bars have a high tendency to break off bolts when they're stubborn. And yes, do not, by any means, use 12-point sockets. Always use 6-point.
This is what happens when you try to remove a rusted on bolt with a breaker bar after finding out that the impact wrench wont remove it. Last thing you want is to drill out a rusted on bolt.
