Erratic Skip -- 94 EX Wagon
I changed my timing belt about a month and some change ago. Prior to the belt change, I had an engine skip that would occur randomly (It was only noticable when idling at a stop) but no change in RPM occurred. After the belt change, I have the same random skip, however though, instead of a single skip, sometimes its a single skip and sometimes its 3 skips one right after other. RPM doesnt spike or drop. It is total random when it does it, and seems like its only present after the car has warmed up otherwise the idle seems fine. I can feel the skip and for the while when I had a squealing belt, the squeal would basically stop when the skip occurred and then start again. I am not sure if the skip is occuring when teh car is in motion as I cant feel the skip with some of the extra vibration (I think the balancer is off a tooth or something and I need to revisit that and my motor mounts.) Not sure what causes it or if its likely to cause a more major problem. Additionally about a year ago I cleaned the EGR (totally plugged) and IACV but I think those would cause idle problems instead. So any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Did you check and adjust the valves when doing the timing belt change?
When was the last time the spark plugs/wires/cap/rotor were inspected/replaced?
I suspect you have a misfire. Do a compression check and verify the valves are adjusted properly before a valve burns up.

The squealing was because I didnt quite get the belt tension of the new alt-ac belt correct out the gate. Its been remedied since.
