Default Any ideas on routing this oil drain- downpipe clearance issue

so anyone have ideas on how to route this drain, I have 2 an ports on my oil pan (one cannot be seen in ohoto it is directly behind downpipe) both dont quite clear from what I can see, my only idea is to weld another bung on to the far drivers side of the pan. other then that I think ill just cut dumptube a bit shorter

thanks

Dang, seems like it always something.

Does anyone do hard line? Since the turbo and oil pan shouldn't move independently of one another, could a compression type fitting slip around your down pipe?
Only reason I bring it up, on my barracuda I have a dual line external oil pickup with rubber hose and once the oil is hot the lines flex a lot. I would be concerned with it rubbing on the down pipe and melting😲

I would honestly use a braided steel line with a thermal sleeve over the lie to route to the drain. I would also thermal wrap both that part of the downpipe and dumptube for better insulation, in which none of the other substances would melt.

I would go against the idea of a hardline at that point, mainly because of the amount of flex that the engine will see there. Even oil return lines from the OEM turbo cars are at least spring loaded to allow that flex and vibration.

Already ordered a new pan I will weld in a bung on the far drivers side (similar to what moroso has) and loop it arround. I considered a fire sleeve but I think heat wrapped pipes should do the trick

one can always loop a few coils into a hardline to prevent work-hardening from the vibrations. Would it be feasible in a turbo drain line? I'm thinking this line would be too big.

For these sized turbochargers, yes. But its quite normal for OEM turbocharged applications.

Do the fire sleeve. Works better and less messy.

thanks, looks like im gettin the sleeve anyway but pipes will still be wrapped to cut down on heat for a multitude of reasons, A/C / radiator / underhood temps etc

haha thanks, yea I like it. Just a pain to redo this drain,

in my head I was sure I would never need to retap my pan since it already had 2 ports on it. Going for a new pan I dont want a bunch of ports on it just increases chances of one of them leaking

I can do that.

Its going to the far right with a 45* off the turbo, the line is a lil bit over a foot long from my mockup

Easy and faster, just make another hole to the pan
