Default question related to moneyorders vs cashiers checks

is there a difference between a money order and cashiers check?
Can you stop a cashiers check or its only for moneyorder?

Here are some of differences that I know of:

1) Cashier's check is only available from banks unlike money orders which are available at post office, banks, 7-11, etc.
2) Cashier's check is made out to specific person. You give teller name & it's typed onto check.
3) I believe you can stop cashier's check just like you can stop personal check.

I work at a bank, and cashiers checks can be treated like regular checks you can stop payment on them, check to see when they were cashed, they can be cashed at the recipients bank or where ever the check was written from. hope this helps

but those damn thing cost more than a MO. For me in OK it costs $3.00 compared to $.91....go figure!

THEY ARE SAFER THAN MONEY ORDERS ANYWAYS MM ONLY GO UP TO A THOUSAND BUCKS

It depends on what services you have attached to your bank accounts. I can get either one for free from my bank if I'm not getting more than 3 at time.
