Default almost got scammed for type r swap

won a auction last night for a type r swap for only 3100 plus shipping. emailed him back for shipping price, during that time started doing some homework into this auction. i obtained sellers contact information. called seller and found out that she never put anything up for auction. and when she does its usually clothes. lucky me was about to pay tonight. scammers suck. wish i can go kick his *** just for wasting my time.
here's the link to the auction and the email he just sent me.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AIT

Thank you for your email.I have reserved the motor for you so please do not
worry.
Usually I accept paypal as a payment method. But unfortunatelly my account
will be unavailable till the 12th of June. That is why I accept bank
transfers.
I am expecting a large order of engines from my partner in Europe and have
not payed in full for them yet.So you can send funds dirrectly to my partner
and I will iniciate shipping as soon as you confirm bank transfer to the
account. It will save time for both: you and me as I will iniciate shipping
as soon as you confirm payment and email me a scaned copy of bank transfer
receipt. In other words I will get funds to my partner quicker (rather than
receive money order, cash it and send through my bank) and you will have your
engine shipped to you faster. So I ask you to understand me and accept this
way of payment.

Here is my partner's bank account information to make wire transfer to the
account:

Beneficiary: Mejakov Stanislav
Ukraine, Cherkassy
Account ¹ 2620958401723

Bank of Beneficiary: State Oschadny Bank of Ukraine
Cherkassy branch
SWIFT: COSBUAUK CHK

Correspondent bank:
Jpmorgan Chase bank
New York
Account ¹ 0011194057
SWIFT: CHASUS33

Beneficiary's address: 12 Shevchenko st.
Cherkassy 18000
Ukraine

I will give you a $200 discount if you decide to help me. I do this because
I really need to pay for my order in time and you are taking a unique chance
to become the owner of this "monster".
If it is your first international wire transfer then you will have to go to
your bank and ask manager to assist you in sending funds to the account
abroad.
I hope it is not a problem and we can do business together.

I will iniciate shipping as soon as you provide the bank transfer
confirmation receipt.
Please email me back with your delivery address and confirm whether I need
to reserve the motor for you as I have more buyers interested.

Waiting for your email and look forward to do business with you.

Please reply soon.

Regards,
jordansclothing

It's a good thing you did some research. You should forward the email and his information to the authorities.

This sounds like another case of "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." It sounds kind of shady that your funds would be going to Ukrainian bank. Seller is supposedly located in Massachusetts.

Personally, I think it's best to stick w/ reputable seller when you're buying big ticket item, such as motor. Find someone who's actually going to back up what they sell.

Also, I've seen that photo w/ all of B series motors before. Using someone else's photos is definitely questionable.

man good looking out. I cannot trust using eBay anymore, there are too many scammers on there and they do a poor job of protecting the buyer. I usually just search for auctions that are local to me so I can check out the goods in person.

basic rule of thumb if they only take bank transfers something is up dont go for it. also always look at their seller feedback and see what they have sold and stuff.
those 2 motors for sale on ebay if you were to look at their seller feedback stuff there is nothing there related to motors or car parts of any kind. high seller ratings have 0 meaning.

yeah, almost fell for that scam too. so we went with this guy from honda-tech, long story. end up still getting scammed, partially. supposed to be full swap. he hasn't sent the header, ecu, or one of the axles. this was 6 months ago. oh well, you win some you lose some.
