Re: Toyo R888 vs Nitto NT-01
I am coming to the end of a set of r888's for HPDE. Found an interesting article mentioning pressures and camber. I will insert the forum link, and have seen similar elsewhere. I am running about 48psi hot to keep the tire from over using the outside edge, at -2.8 camber fronts. Seems to be even wear. I had a friend destroyed a set quickly at lower pressures with a heavy Audi, ruined the centers, all of this before this article. Are Nt-01s similar? Any r888 users find similar, or different, pressures. I know that close to -3 camber has been stated.

Re: Toyo R888 vs Nitto NT-01
Autocrossing R1-R's last year to the NT-01 this year I can feel a considerable grip difference. They also as expected seem to be wearing a bit faster, but so far I am impressed.
I run a street car alignment (not enough camber in the front too much in the rear) Toe zeroed out and camber around 1.5 front and 2.3 rear, I always run my tire pressures at 34 psi cold and leave them alone. After reading the article I may increase them a bit. 12k front spring and 10k rear with a OEM 19mm front bar and a ASR 24mm bar in the back.
Not exactly what the OP was looking for but its all I have.

Re: Toyo R888 vs Nitto NT-01
I've run 888 and nt-01 and like nsxtasy said Toyo is parent company of Nitto. Both are rated at 100 utqg so the wear should be almost the same and the gripp is very similar. Now for the price NT-01 is way better deal than the 888.
I wouldn't recomend that you drive them on the street just for the fact that when they get hot they will start picking up every single rock out there and fling it in your paint. Besides being a very expensive tire to drive around. Full dept 888 looks better for rain because of the way the groove is directing water out. "my opinion only"
HC just went back to RA1 after the 3rd. event this year so they will be produce with no problem. If you are not running a spec tire in your events I guess the tire that you feel better with is probably the best for you. Different driving different feel.

Re: Toyo R888 vs Nitto NT-01
Also don't forget this is R compound and according to Toyo this tires like negative camber. You can go more than -3 and have no problem. I'm running -4.5 in the rear with no uneven wear. I wouldn't start them at 34 psi. to high for them 26 to 29 in my opinion, but then again what do I know? This goes for Nitto or Toyo.

Re: Toyo R888 vs Nitto NT-01
Since starting this topic, I've switched from the RA-1 to the NT01 on my ITR. I've found that the treadlife is a lot longer on the RA-1, typically averaging 2000 track miles vs 1200 for the NT01, rotating them from corner to corner and flipping them to maximize their lifespan. This is with full tread on both tires (not shaved). Possible reasons for the difference in treadlife include tread depth when new (8/32" for the RA-1, 6/32" for the NT01) and the profile of the shoulder (more square with the RA-1, rounder with the NT01) which has caused me to trash some NT01 with belts showing along the edges even when there's still a slight amount of tread depth in the center of the tread.

I've been using them with hot pressures anywhere from 38 to 42, and they seem okay.
I'm considering going back to the RA-1, due to the longer tread life.
