Tire size: 225/45/15 or 205/50/15??
I'm moving from novice to SM next year (the actual classes for the club I race with are diff. but based on SCCA classes). I'm looking for some race tires in order to be competitive in the new class. Right now I'm about 2-3 seconds away usually.
Right now I have Neuspeed Sofsport springs (250/185 rates, boooo I know, going to be changed after wheels/tires and LSD) on Tokico non-adj. shocks, with the Susp. Tech 25.4mm/19mm bars on a 150whp '98 Integra LS weighing about 2500lbs.
I'm confused as to what tire size to get for racing, to be mounted on 15 x 7" +40 offset Rota Slipstreams. I could go 225/45 in front and 205/50 in back with Kumho Ecstas (would go with Hoosiers but half of my runs are in the rain in Seattle...), but would that cause my car to rotate a little too much? My setup is fairly conservative compared to more-hardcore auto-x setups but the rear end is definitely "active" as it is - I spun out in the slalom with just a little throttle lift. I'm afraid the offset tires will make my car rotate a little too much. What do you think? And if I shouldn't offset the tires then should I go with 225 all around or 205? Will 225's even fit on an Integra? I'm only lowered 1", probably will go to 1.5" or so soon.
