Roll on paint protectant?
Has anyone used this stuff? From what I understand, it's kinda like a clear rubber paste that you can paint on the front of your car and then peel off later. It sounds pretty interesting, as I'd like to avoid getting any rock chips on the front end of my 350Z at the NASA HPDS at VIR in October...

This is supposed to be cut to fit and then installed and not exactly what we were talking about but it's a start.

The stuff that 350Z is talking about isn't the regular 3M clear bra. This is a rubbery film that goes on, and peels off after the weekend. I've seen it used before, but if you're going to go through the trouble of that stuff, you might as well cough up for a clear bra.

This is a clear sheet that you apply... the stuff he's talking about it liquid that you roll onto the car and it dries to a latexy tough finish.

the d00d next to me in the watkins glen garage with a Z3 was using it. he absoluteley loved it and his front end looked great. said he gets it from some place in PA (sorry can't remember where).
took him about 15 minutes to roll it on but i didn't catch him taking it off.

Update: Freek24 (Thanks Chris!) posted the same thread on Rennlist, and we found a product called Groco TranSeal...
Comments about it:
"It works great, just mask off the areas that you do not want to get it on (rubber, glass, plastic). Also mask off all of your edges. Then when you get home - just peel it right off. I also apply a coat of wax on my car immediately before putting it on. I figure the wax will act as a barrier between the coating and the actual paint.
Other issues : If it rains - peel it off before it gets too wet. Water dissolves the product since it is waterbased, so unless you want a slimy mess on your car, that is kind of a pain to get off, don't let it get too wet.
I've used it on my car, and when I've gotten home, just peeled it off a quarter panel or fender at a time - it just comes off in a big sheet if you apply it thick enough (2 coats). And the car underneat looks just like it did when you waxed it. "
Cost: $30 / gallon
Company info for Groco:
