Default Powerneedy's Time Attack build

Well I picked this car up with the intentions of picking up where my red car left off but instead of making the car fun, fast, and "comfortable" I decided it was all in or nothing. The car is being built to run mainly in Redline time attack Modified class, but there is lots of other organizations it still will fit in. Here is how it started out when i bought it and has been like this for 6+ years...

Looks like you're off to a great start.

I'm not familiar with what I am looking at that's replacing the fork.

Nice skills I was going to say dont put the roof on before you finish the cage but you did. Where did you get the carbon fiber roof? Is this your first build ? was it hard to bend the cage and mock up everything? More pics of cage building

Tilton has made them since the late 90s for B series clutches.

Where did you get the carbon fiber replacement roof panel from? I am going to delete my sunroof on my track car and was just going to use an OEM roof panel, but if I can get a carbon one for almost the same price then why not.

Also what guage sheet metal are you using on the floor for the roll cage? Btw, the cage work is beautiful. Keep up the good work

The roof is from a guy that is local that is in ruff form as I was on a tight schedule and took it before it was done to cut the roof out. It runs 450 before shipping for the race roof.

Thickness of plates are... I think 1/8th inch I think I will double check to many other things going on to remember haha

right now no on the turbo... Have ran out of money lol. main thing this year was handling/chassis Next year is the motor build. The turbo setup is pretty quick for how light the car will be, it is bigger than most people think also. To help the turbo out I am building a 3" dp and ported out the stock greddy mani for now.

How are you attaching the roof? If just epoxy, you may want to consider a couple safety tabs just in case the epoxy deteriorates. I saw a Corvette lose it's T-top down the back straight of VIR earlier this year, and it sucked for him. It would suck way more to lose your ENTIRE roof

Cage looks great too I really like the hydraulic TO bearing, never seen that before.

Suspension im running skunk 2 pro-c with 16kf/14kr we will see how it works out with the car setup like this.

The roof sits under the windshield slightly and quite a bit under the molding and literally "snaps" on the roof of the car. I also will most likely use windshield urethane. Stinky i will really be considering some other attachments as I would hate to loose something like that hahaha

Thanks for all the comments guys

I see a lot of dry fibers on the underside of that roof!
Just curious what you are using to attach it. let me know, I have some stuff you can use that I use on the roofs that I sell.
Surface prep of the 2 bonding materials is the most important step.

The cage looks sweet!

You should go racing rather than TA, you'll never go back once you do.

Trust me, neither do I!

Most cats (in NASA anyway) are pretty good drivers though. I don't want to bang my car up either, and racing is totally fun.

Why not terminate your cage tubes at mounting plate junctions as opposed to other tubes? Seems like your giving up some strength.
