Has anyone used one of these in a Honda for road racing? I was thinking of attempting to make one of them work, seems a lot more reliable than the OEM sock.
I have seen them and wondered if they would work. I'm running the stock tank on a 90 Civic with a walbro pump, 550cc injectors, aero and 200tw tires. I can't run with less than about 1/3 of a tank or I'll fuel starve on long sweepers.
I have a friend who uses this, but he also has a fuel cell, so hard to say for sure. The overall feedback that I have heard has all been very positive. I am considering using 2 small ones. (one left and one right side of tank) then putting a "T" fitting before the pump, just to get every bit of fuel out of the tank as I can.
Then just use a small piece of fuel tubing going into the pump. I'm wondering if the magnet kit would work to keep the mat sitting on the bottom of the tank. I've been wanting to go and pickup a spare fuel tank so I can have this all setup on it without having the car all ripped apart but I haven't had time and it has been cold.
I would definitely consider a fuel cell if I could get one that fit well in the stock location and was of OEM durability, this car is driven a lot but not exactly a daily.

I put one in the stock tank in my STL CRX. 8x15 cross feeding a Bosch 044. First weekend on track will be next weekend. I'll post an update on how it goes.

It worked pretty well - If I were going to do it again, I would likely use a bigger size. As a warning, install was a pain in the ***. I had to enlarge the hole in the tank and make a new top plate so I could get the hydramat and/or my hands in the tank to position it.
Full disclosure, I have since gone to a fuel cell with a Radium fuel cell surge tank. This change was to get rid of the external fuel pump, and be able to add a second/backup fuel pump.
I went ahead and installed one in my stock Civic tank. I cut out the OEM "baffle" that surrounds the stock sock. then used the magnet kit to keep it at the bottom of the tank. I used the 15"x3".
Does it work?
YES! I can run the tank almost dry without getting starvation after a hard corner. (used to happen under 1/2 tank)
Things to be aware of.
To use in the stock tank/ stock pump location. You need to run a little extra fuel line inside the tank. Be careful when installing to "coil" the hose. otherwise it can kink and create the starvation issue your trying to correct.

It fits the stock fuel pump, but it's a little large for the pump baffle the stock pump fits down into. So, I simply folded it to fit and secured it with a zip tie. It's quite rigid and doesn't need anything to hold it down, just being attached to the pump will take care of that.
The hydramat's work amazingly well and absolutely as advertised. I had one in my old car with a cell. Only draw back was it worked almost too well.....when you're out, you're out.

so you literally just folded over the piece that was too long? if its truly that simple ill do it asap lol, i need a solution on my H2 car, really dont want to go fuel cell on this chassis
I was having starvation issues at the Glen after filling my tank ALL the way ....
I recently purchased a used OEM Integra fuel pump assembly.
I suspect that the aftermarket pump/sock combos aren't designed with the tightest clearances and thus gas that's supposed to get into the pump bypasses the suction by leaking out the side of the sock fitting.

I picked up a new tank from rock last season with intention to make a mini in tank surge but never got to it . So going with Hydramat will save some work. I need an in tank solution as I still drive the car to and from the track .
I'll be using a Hydramat in a stock tank for the first time this weekend, but I can tell you with certainty that a Hydramat in a fuel cell makes a surge tank completely unnecessary.
Then pushed the mat to the back of the tank with a stick. the extra fuel line makes it easy to remove the pump without moving the Hyrdomat. The magnets are super strong so the mat is a pain to position. The extra fuel line MUST be "coiled" to avoid kinking.
Hydramat on a stock pump stuffed down in the stock tank baffle report: great success! The lowest we got the tank during the race was about 2 gallons from empty, and it didn't starve. That's a major improvement from before.

Yes it will but you won't be able to get the mat into this location at the back of the tank. I used this same setup with the stock baffle, but the mat was pushed in front of the baffle and made it difficult to position.
I’m in process of fabbing up a new ”no cut” stainless hanger to orient the DW200 & 16-116 to sit into the factory baffle. The angle of the fitting on the hydramat doesn’t match up with the angle of the factory hanger.
