Default 205/50-15" azenis on 6" rim

From what I've been reading, the 205/50-15 Azenis "like" a 7" rim.

I know there are people who mount these tires on stock ITR rims, but I am wondering if it actually limits the performance of a tire by mounting this on a 6" wide rim or if it will perform just fine.

Thanks

Define 'fine'. If fine is less than optimal and better than won't work at all, then yes---they perform fine.

Turn-in sucks on a 6" rim, but what do you expect with such a wide street tire on a narrow rim? Also, the contact patch will be slightly narrower--hence limiting overall lateral grip.

So to answer your question, yes they will work. But they won't work great.

I have 205/50 15's on 99-00' Si wheels. Are they 6" or 6.5"??

Anyway, I've ran this setup for 6 track days and they "seem" to work great!

99-00 si wheels are 15x6.

They work fine for me on '99-00 Si 15x6 wheels . . . but I've never used them on 15x7 wheels, so I don't know what the improvement would be like there.

205/50/15 azenis perform ok on my 15x6 itr wheels. Their grip is good, but the sidewalls flex a bit under cornering and turn-in is sloppy.

Azenis feel much better on 15x7 wheels. Turn-in is very crisp and sidewall flex is not as noticeable. I would definitely recommend a 15x7 wheel.

I've run them on 6" and 7" wide wheels... I didn't realize how much turn in sucked on the 6" wheel until I used them on a 7" wheel.

im curious to know from all you ppl who went from a 6" or 6.5" wheel to a 7" wheel and felt an immediate amount of performance on the same tire, especially in "turn in" did so with using much lighter wheels than your previous wheel. im assuming most of you who went to 7" used a 15x7" kosei or some other performance wheel. a lighter wheel alone would generate better "turn in." some of you have already stated that the 6" rim you used were stock civic Si rims, whats the weight on those? if someone went from, for example, lighter 15x6.5" rotas to 15x7" kosei's where the difference in weight is minimal, i would agree that wheel weight difference is not a factor, but im pretty skeptical about a 0.5" difference can actually be felt as if its a huge difference.

15x6" Stock saturn wheel (15.5lbs) to a 15x6.5" rota wheel (12 lbs), same set of tires.

Turn in felt alot better. Did the change make me faster? I'm not sure. Car felt better though.

My 15x7's were about 1.5 lbs lighter than the 15x6's... not too much weight difference, imo. Going from a 6" to 7" wide wheel is a relative increase of 16.7% additional wheel width...

I'm in the market for buying some track-only wheels, and have asked myself this same question. I can find tons of used (I want used) Rotas in 15x6.5", however I haven't come across a 15x7" K1, yet. So I can find Rotas for a lot cheaper than any decent light 15x7" wheel.

To answer the original question: I have 205/50 15 Azenis on 15x6" GSR wheels. The grip is superior to 205/45 16 A520s on a 16x7" wheel, but they feel a little sloppier.

Question 2: anyone have any 4x100 15x7" 40+ Kosei K1s or the like?

good luck trying to find some used koseis... i ended up buying them new from tirerack.

back on topic.

i had azenis mounted on 6.5 rotas and my car felt a lot crisper when i went up to a 7. so i can imagine how a 6 must feel

My problem is I can't fit anything wider than a 6" rim with those azenis underneath my rear wheel wells on my crx... so I'm pretty much screwed in the turn-in department.

I found a set of TSW ( ) rims 15x7, 5x114.3, 40mm offset. Probably about 15-16lbs. I wonder if those would be a better bet than stock ITR rims.... Opinions?

Yeah, but they are new and thus I won't find any used ones. I am hoping that beggars can be choosers.

anyone go from a 6.5 and 7" and notice a difference enough to be worth it?

I'd think that they would be... stock ITR wheels weigh about the same and are only 15x6. If you're interested in a lightweight replacement wheel in stock ITR size, I've got some Mazda wheels that I don't use anymore.

Euh?

I had Kosei 7" wide with Azenis and never had a rubbing problem.
My 'Rex had Koni's and "Race" coil...

7" wide definitely improves turn-in.I had the Azenis before on 6" wide BBS.

I went from stock 99-00 wheels w/ 205/50/15's to a set of 15x7 TE-37's with a 43 offset if i'm not mistaken. I'm not certain if it was the fact the tire filled itself out over the wheel or that the TE's pushed the wheels out just a hair to give the car a wider track that made the most difference. The car drove great afterward also. HTH.
I miss those wheels.

I had a problem rubbing on ONLY my right rear wheel well when I went to a rota 15x6.5 and the 205/50/15 Azenis...went to some GC Coilovers from a Neuspeed spring setup and raised it just a bit does fine on the street, but it still rubs slightly on REALLY hard turns at the track ESPECIALLY when I have a passenger.

I already did this. The reason I went to the 99-00 si wheels is because of the 45 offset. Before I had the si wheels I had my azenis on some other crappy wheel that was 7" but the offset was like 35 so hence the rubbing.

I might try and put them on my rota 15" rota subzeros if you all think they would be MUCH better on a 6.5" rim. I'm always looking for improvement.

i went from the 14" azenis on 5.5 inch tims to the 205/50-15's on my 15x6.5 rims and the difference was amazing but that might be slightly different.
