Skunk2 B-Series VTEC Lost Motion Assembly
Skunk2 is proud to introduce its Lost Motion Assembly Kits for Honda’s B-series VTEC engines. Skunk2 Lost Motion Assemblies will fit any B-Series DOHC VTEC engine (Type-R/GSR B16A, B17A, B18C).
The Skunk2 Lost Motion Assembly is an advance spring device that is designed to put pre-load on the center portion of the VTEC rocker when it is in the unlocked position (when VTEC mode is disabled). During extended operating conditions, the contaminants in the oil will more than likely cause the piston to seize resulting in the VTEC rocker rattling when VTEC is not engaging or when the vehicle is in idle.
Each Skunk2 Lost Motion Assembly is manufactured exclusively from chrome silicone steel using the latest 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) modeling and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to ensure maximum optimization. Each chrome silicone steel spring features a hardened tip for added durability. Skunk2 engineers then tested and proved their design on the engine dyno as well as the race track.
Skunk2 Lost Motion Assembly Kit replaces the OEM factory piston design with an improved design commonly found in new generation Honda Engines. Lost Motion Assembly springs are required when installing Skunk2 Pro Series camshafts.
Each Lost Motion Assembly Kit includes a set of 8 assemblies for an entire Honda DOHC VTEC B-Series 4-cylinder engine (Type-R/GSR, B16A, B17A, B18C).
MSRP: $89.99
Part Number: 312-05-0200 (B-Series VTEC Lost Motion Assembly Kit)

^Less noise...the piston style lma's will get polished over time and stick. There are methods to fixing them but @ $90, I would just get these.

one thing that has me worried is if there is a height difference and why no shims. in the photo, the H-series lma is on the left and the B-series on the right.
granted the S2's shape seems to taper at the bottom, but why no shim? even other aftermarket companies lmas are designed with shims
I've already bought the S2 lma, but i'm putting the install on hold

h22 lma's are shorter than b-series. People would buy h22 lma's for their b-series because they were much cheaper and add a washer to make up the height difference.
You wont need a shim with these because they are for b-series

Re: Skunk2 B-Series VTEC Lost Motion Assembly
aren't h lma like $50-60 for all 8?
not hating,
I have a good amount of skunk2 stuff on my car, just curious what's the benefit of these over H22 ones. (aside from washer)

Last I recall at Honda here locally in Washington, h22 lma's were $8 each. Some people don't like the idea of running the washer I suppose.

Re: Skunk2 B-Series VTEC Lost Motion Assembly
After much research I found that the science of speed LMAs to be more sound to me. The Skunk 2 LMAs don't have a shim at the bottom. I also noticed that they've raised the price from $90 to $100 in the last couple of weeks so I went with the Science of Speed LMAs which include a shim at the bottom.

They are $115, but for the extra $15 I like the idea of them being closer to a factory replacement. Sorry to troll, but I think people should have choices and make their own best decision. I'd recommend a redesign with the shim instead unless there is some technical reason that you don't use the shim design that honda also uses. I imagine that without the shim the skunk2s are less expensive to manufacture?
