Professional Satin black paint jobs - pic & info request

Re: Professional Satin black paint jobs - pic & info request (iam7head)
From an actual painters mouth (that's me ) Shooting this is no different than any other basecoat, clearcoat job. I have done it on my friend's R6 and that looked sick! And on an old Hemi my shop restored where the hood and above the top body line is flat black. We shoot PPG and the clear coat is called "Flexed'n'flat". It is actually a pretty cool paint to shoot, it lays out shiny just like actual clearcoat, but dries to the flat look! I like it on the right car... good luck!

Re: Professional Satin black paint jobs - pic & info request (iam7head)
ive been doing alot of search on a semigloss/satin black paint choice for my car.
1. alot of hotroders use John Deere "blits black" paint. its a really tough paint since it meant to be used on tractors. really hard to find in california since it has some sort of chemicals not legal in the states.
2. i found a company called VHT. they make an epoxy paint in semi and flat black. only down side that is on rattle can. the paint its meant for roll bars and chassi. very strong as the company states. it comes with a commercial tip not like the duplicolor professional tip. but ive been thinkin on swapping the tips
i will add more info when i have more time
ludex360 ... the paint you used was it rattle can? what brand..

when you are done painting do you wet sand the car since you clear it? it seems like the paint would be un-even if you did sand.

Certainly not a "professional job", but its a satin finish.
I used a mix of brown and black rustoleum satin paint.
Cost about $12(including tape, lol).
I personally wouldnt pay $1K+ for a satin job. Kinda defeats the purpose, imo.
