devilbiss finishline not spraying clear correctly. help!
I just got done painting my crx, and the base coat sprayed great, all even, but the clear seemed like it was spraying really weird, so when it dried, it came out with a lot of orangepeel, but in the middle of orange peel will be a random run in the paint. it doesnt make sense.
so anyways, i think i set the gun incorrectly. for the devilbiss finishline itn says 23psi at the gun will yield 10psi at the cap. but the clear coat says to spray with 40-50 psi at the gun. it definately wasnt atomozing correctly because i sprayed it really wet, or so i thought. i have painted before, but not with my own gun. always a friends.
any help would be awesome, i need to figure out how to get this gun to spray clear correctly. thanks

don't worry about the cap pressure, set the guns regulator to what the clear coat recomends (40 psi as you said). make sure if you're using an external regulator to have the guns internal regulator set all the way open and adjust from the external gauge. and next time spray a test panel to make sure it is spraying right before you waste all that clear again. PS i spray everything at 29 psi (2 bars) with spies hecker.

anyone else gonna chime in? so I should adjust my regulator to 40psi?
I wanna make sure you go by what the paint says, not the spray gun

you should never spray on the car until you have tested it on paper... that is where you make all your adjustments and make sure you have an even spray pattern.. adjust your fan control as well as your air pressure

Once you get the spray pattern down, you should be set. My problem was that I was spraying too low of a pressure and that caused the orange peel.
