Default Body filler recommendations

I'm looking for any recommendations on body fillers. Is Bondo worth a damn? I'm not an experienced body person, I'd just like to clean my old car up a little. The rear quarter is dinged up pretty good around the wheel well lip. I have tapped out the dents as much as I could, now I just need to smooth out the ripples

The car is a 1992 Civic hatch. I plan on painting it eventually, but I'd just like to clean up the body in the meantime.

Also, is there a high-build primer that comes in a spray can?

What should I put over the filler to keep the metal underneath from rusting? Primer sealer?

Thanks

In the big picture bondo is towards the bottom of fillers. I hate regular bondo but i did just try some bondo gold with resonable results. If you go outside of consumer filler (bondo) your goign to have to go to a paint supply shop and since your not a shop your going to pay for it. There are a ton of fillers out there and each one is different. Ill suggest that you use the bondo gold with spot filler. As for primer your best off buying a cheap gun a spraying primer but if thats not an option once your done with your filler and have any exposed metal clean of rust use a self etch primer then a filler primer fallowed by a sealer primer.

Why would you use marglass or tiger hair to smooth out small dents? Thats stupid not to mention it fiberglass and metal youll get a better bond with filler dont use marglass, tigerhair

Guess I should have read into it a tad more, as soon as I saw Civic and quarter I assumed rust and rebuild.

i use bondo for first fill. then either finish with bondo ultimate ( actually not that bad of a product ) or with evercoat metal glaze.

i dont by anymeans consider myself a body professional, but thats what i have used.

i hate fillers that are hard as rock if your doing alot of shaping.

the metal glaze sands like butter. the ultimate almost as good, but not quite.

the finish is only as good as the foundation or the weakest link

dont try to mix two type of filler together, it might crack on you later down the line

zgrip, evercoat=what i use

they are pricey but they lay down smooth and request less sanding

im not saying mix as one wipe. but i have seen body guys do 2 wipes of different fillers alot.

not sure why this is a problem... care to explain?

difference in expansion/ adhesion?

Suprise you didn't mentioned "all metal"

What,Dude Rage Gold is good,Rage gold extreme is even better. Because it has more resin in the bondo,Also it's alot easier to spread .It also eliminates almost all pinholes when sanding.

Alot of reason body guys wipe two different fillers is because the bondo there using creates alot of pinholes. So therefore they use a polyestor on top to cover the pinholes. Also for dings you can wipe polyestor as well.Alot of people also purchase cheap evercoat bondo and mix it with polyestor so it spreads very smooth.I've yet to see any "reactions" with that technique.
