Ok guys, i know if i was painting bare metal id want to use self etching primer then spray my 2k on. Now is this the same when primering body filler? or can i just shoot 2k on it..

Also when is Self etching needed. For example, like if repainting a car,while sanding some spots go bare metal then others arent, does it need self etching or only when big areas are bare?

Thanks for any input you can share..

And if you dont have experience with this i really dont care to hear your opinion.

Self etching is for large panels of bare metal. 2k over body filler and small spots of bare metal.

Alright thats what i figured, but wanted to check before messing somthing up..

What exactly is considered a large panel?

Most 2k primers say bare metal patches larger than either a quarter or dollar must be pretreated. It all depends on what primer you have.

Use a good DTM rattle can primer on the bare metal spots and then shoot the 2K primer, And remember to back sand
