Anyone ever replace a roof?
A buddy of mine purchased a totaled 07 SI and we ordered a brand new roof for an 07 dx which has no sunroof, which I believe makes it the only SI without a sunroof in the country
I just bought a 2000 Civic hatch which had an aftermarket sunroof installed when the car was purchased in 2000. The sunroof now leaks really badly so I started searching for a roof from the junkyard and happened to stumble apon a mint vsm roof for $100. I'll be tackling this adventure in the next couple of days. The only bad part is that they cut out all of the roof bracing so I have to come up with something to go up there to brace the roof
Here is the new roof in my buddies Volvo xc90. I can't believe how much smaller the roof is. I'll post up more pictures as I go along

Re: Anyone ever replace a roof?
i know whats thats like..
heres my build thread for a db7
http://www.************.com/forums/s...d.php?t=351091
just make sure you get the front winshield profesionally removed.. the rear can be done very easily..
note: you really dont need to remove the front wishield, however you do have to at lest raise it about an 1 1/2.. with that kind of stress on the winshield, you will likely crack it.. i know from experience..
also you can re-use the bracing on from your old roof, to brace the new one on.. also expanding foam. use it in between the roof and the bracing for added rigidness.
if you have any questions.. you can pm.. otherwise, i might not be back to this thread.

Re: Anyone ever replace a roof?
I already took jack pipe to the windshield lol my buddy's dad installs windows for a living and got a new one installed for $100 with new molding and it's a hatchnack so I just have to unbolt the hatch of the car.
The dealer cut all of the old roof bracing out to fit the sunroof in the car. I have ALOT of sound deadener going on the new roof along with the bracing from the new roof. I have a 80lb subwoofer firing up towards the roof so I had to make sure the roof was done properly
Honda-tech blocks the link you posted. PM me the link so I can check out your build

Re: Anyone ever replace a roof?
buzz off the spot welds with a grinding disk or a cut off wheel but before you lift the roof skin off cut the seam sealer applied to the braces

I cant take you Seriously. And icar is comical, i dont care how many icar points you have. Icar is popular with students and Insurance company staff that think they know what they're talking about. If you have experience then you know spot weld cutters need pilot holes and cutting into the panel NOT being replaced on a roof isnt what you want and spottle bits dont remove the weld completely and need to be broken free in most cases, and that would be a pain in a area like the the rain channel were the weather molding goes. I call bullshit if you really knew about the collision trade or "game" you would know ALL of that. So stop with the bull$hit and crappy posts..
A spot bit, spot weld cutter and grinding disk can all be used but removing the top of the spot weld is what you want
