Word. Car is mostly likely never going to see a track so I'm sure the stock brakes would be fine with decent tires.

If you can swing it go for a 07-08 350Z or G35 Sedan. The HR motor is sooo worth it. The G sedan is as fast as the 350z b/c of the shorter final drive.
If you have to have a G coupe & want a newer car do as what B20 recommended and get service documentation before buying the car. Nissan still hasn't rectified the oil burning issue yet. They just keep replacing shitty motors with less shitty motors.

Thanks!
I need more info on your car now b e b! specifically the motor… just out of curiosity, you wouldn’t happen to have a full part list for that motor? Curious about what Greddy used for head gaskets, main, and head bolts, etc.?

Well it looks like its going to be a few more months befoer I go G/Z shopping. My entire clutch assembly on the GTO is fubared: the clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing, pressure plate, slave cyl all have to be replaced. I also had a rear main seal leak I am getting fixed while the trans is off.
It's going to cost as much as a beater car just to have the damn thing fixed, and I have niether the tools nor know-how to do it myself. FML.
Oh well, at least my car will drive like new and I will have some big receipts to include for the next buyer.

That's the plan. Ideally I'd like a 6mt '07-'08 g35 sedan, but since I have to cough up almost 3g's repairing my current car, I'm not sure I'll be able to afford one. I'll have plenty of time to look while I pay off said repairs, though.

60k miles. The clutch plate intself is fine--it's the throwout bearing/slave cyl thats bad and making all sorts of terrible chattering noises. GM makes it so that you have to replace the entire assembly ($700 in parts).

Re: Single Turbo G35 Coupe Build (Brilliant Silver content inside)
There were other things that needed to be repaired as well. There was an oil leak at the RMS, the slave cyl is integral to the clutch assembly and needs to be replaced ($370), it needs a new EVAP purge solenoid, a/c belt, there is a TSB for cleaning the fuel system...**** just adds up. I wish I had a second car and could afford to let the GTO sit while I save up or do things peicemeal, but I have to get to work.
At least this is only setting me back a few months in terms of savings afrter expenses. Thankfully I have some money in the bank for unforseen problems like this.

Awww, its okay! If you could find it that’d be awesome but no worries, I’ve just always been curios about what the big shops used in their engines. How much power have you been pushing though? I’d love to hear some driving impressions on how your car feels at the power level you’ve had it at…
The car makes 456hp on 13lbs currently. Its honestly too much power for me. lol. I mean, I love it - the sound of the built motor screaming and breaking loose in 1-3... but its a waste of a car on me. Its pretty scary....

The built motor’s in the car and just about everything’s hooked up, need to install the turbo kit and few other small things still need to be done before we can fire it up. Here are some more pictures from today! Installed some gold heat protective tape where the turbo and downpipe will go…

Yeah, there’s a high pressure rubber hoses being used (we’ve used them before without any issues)… we added the stainless steel oil line (cleaned out any potential fragments from the old engine) and the metal hardline for the exhaust back pressure sensor too.

How much boost are you going to run on this setup? Power goals?
How do the drivetrains hold up on these cars (I assume its the same diff/axles as the 350Z)? One piece or two-piece driveshaft?

Re: Single Turbo G35 Coupe Build (Brilliant Silver content inside)
The shop that’s been helping me with this motor build has a 900 whp single turbo G35 Coupe and they’ve been using the stock transmission, driveshaft, and differential; only thing they had to replace were the axles (they were pulling 1.5 60 ft. times too). These transmissions can hold 1,000+whp no problem.
I’m currently limited by my budget though, lol… I’m hoping to daily with 450whp for now, limiting factors are the clutch (stage 1 clutch in the car right now, not good for much over 400whp but I had it installed 2 months before the motor failed, so I’m keeping it for now!) and the fuel system (I still need a return fuel system…). I figure I’ll start changing that stuff out next year and shoot for 600whp then.
I was trapping 110mph with 350whp last year; I figure another 100whp will make a very noticeable difference.

Yup, I also think Sound Performance made 1200whp with the stock transmission and differential, last I checked they were running low’s 9’s and trapping over 150mph too. Moreover, this transmission costs about $1,600 brand new from the dealer, lol… take that Supra Getrag!
