Need a shop to do an engine swap on a d16y7
Hey guys, I have a 97 Civic DX with d16y7 manual transmission. Head gasket is blown and engine is toast, need a shop that will do an engine swap for cheap. I just sourced a stock 1998 d16y7 so it will be a simple direct swap.
I know that b-series swaps are super duper cheap nowadays, I'm sure this straight swap will be a tad bit cheaper since it's so easy to do. Anyone know if a place in the San Jose area? Also willing to drive out to the east bay like Hayward, Oakland to get this done. LMK if you guys know any decent shops around, thanks.

Purchase a basic craftsman toolkit from sears and borrow a cherry picker. It's the cheapest most satisfying way to get this done, and because it's just a direct swap, you shouldn't run into complications.

Read the reviews first, then check out this shop. Ask for David. I got my B-series swap done there. Priced reasonably.
Good Luck,
Jerry

N1 Concepts does B-engine swaps.
I myself have a D16y7 in my Civic DX, but my engine runs fine. 225k miles, and still strong.
I've looked at their work, talked to them a lot as well. They are very reputable.

Thanks for the responses people, I will definitely give them a call soon. I found a [legitimate] shop in San Jose that will do it for $600. A self employed mechanic on craigslist will do it for $350 but I'm a little iffy on that one.
I've heard of shops doing these types of swaps for around $500, so hopefully these shops will be in that price range or better.

I've only dealt with DNR in Hayward and RedZone in Fremont....only other guys who I'd let work on my is the guys at RNR. They don't have a shop yet, but I, as well as others, can vouch for their work...
