Re: Official: K24 block, K20 head build info
My plan was to do a k24/k20 frankie but my question is what would be the best k24 bottom end to use? Would it even matter since the head would be changed? or would it just be wise to stick with the k24a2 top end since i have one sourced? i want to make sure i keep true vtec and the car is for street/road track use.

Re: Official: K24 block, K20 head build info
Ok so im taking an engine building class at school and wanted to assemble a k24 shortblock: K24a4 block, 04-05 tsx rods, and 09 tsx pistons.
So basically my question is.....Are ALL tsx rods and ALL tsx pistons compatible as far a wrist pin diameter goes? without milling the small end or anything like that? I know about valve clearance being tighter with older tsx pistons but aside from that will this work?
04-05 tsx pistons with 04 tsx pistons attached, I would like to change them to 09 tsx pistons. That's the plan.

Re: Official: K24 block, K20 head build info
I just built this:
K24 (Element block, not the K24a4 TSX block with piston squirters.)
K20a2 head
Wiseco 12.5:1
Scat Rods
PRB Intake with hondata spacer
DC 4-1
AEM CAI
KPro
And more but thats the basic picture for now.
After initial break in the head was pulled off for a complete build.

Re: Official: K24 block, K20 head build info
Hey guys, sorry to bring this back but my brother has been in the process of piecing together a k24a2 with a cammed k20z1 head and the mechanic was worried about the clearance between the valves and Pistons. The k24 is completely stock except for a z1 oil pump. The cams he's using are the S2 turbo cams, I forget which stage. Thank you for the help

Re: Official: K24 block, K20 head build info
I realize this is an old post, but what it the go-to K-series for n/a and turbo? I came from building B-series motors and was curious if the K-series were better with franking different heads with other blocks like the B-series.

Re: Official: K24 block, K20 head build info
To continue:
I have a k24a2 block on a K20z3 head.
Block:
08' TSX
Wiseco 11:5 comp
Eagle H-Beam Rods
Acl Race Bearings
255 fuel pump
Stage 2 Action Clutch
ARP Head studs
Eagle ESP Crank
Head:
Toda N2 Camshafts
Supertech Valve Package 92 lbs
7 degree keepers
Ferrea 6000 Intake/ Exhaust Valves
Intake:
RBC
70mm tb on a velocity stack
Fuel:
RDX Injectors (i'll probably run max duty cycle on these injectors and need bigger ones)
KTuned Fuel Rail
Currently getting built and I am expecting 260-270 HP All Motor

Re: Official: K24 block, K20 head build info
I'll start:
k24a4 block
2009 TSX 11:1 Pistons
2006 TSX Rods
k20z3 head PNP by me, RLZ Valve Job
k20z3 cams
K20a Intake Manifold and Tbody
This is a 100% HONDA part build minus bearings.
Hondata KPro
Tuned by Howard at RLZ on DYNAPAC
233 hp and 172 tq
Reving to 8k
Dyno'd at Darrel *** Racing Air Fuels tuned by me
243 hp and 190 tq
8 Hours on the engine so far, ROAD RACE HOURS NOT DAILY DRIVING, I do not know milage because i have a 2006 RSX Type S tranny without speedo.
Will post dyno's when I get them scanned.
THIS IS FOR BUILD INFO AND DYNO SHEETS!

retuned at RLZ in July and made 232 on their dyno. injectors took a dump on me first lap out at CMP in kershaw SC. car missing and short shifting at 6-7k i still ran a 1.49.7
retuned week of oct 5th 2009....power was the same, up'd the rpms to 8200. took it to VIR again for oct 10-11 NASA MidAtlantic weekend. Ran a 2.10.2 on 3 year old hoosiers and NO AERO to the car and stock lsd....lsd aero and tires will net me at least 3 seconds a lap, i just don't have the 4000 to dump into all of that right now!

I know alot of years have passed lol. But when you put the 09 TSX pistons did you end up machining or taking a bit of material off of the piston to get proper piston to head clearance? Thanks
