Default k20 removal

Hello techers! My 06 dc5 was recently classified as totaled (engine still in perfect shape!) The car still starts, but has some pretty bad damage to the rear and is not driveable. So I'm swapping the k20z1 into my 94 si. Does anyone know where I can find step-by-step instructions on how to remove the engine from the rsx? I can't seem to find a haynes/chilton manual anywhere. Thanks. Also, I'll be parting out what's left of the car, pics will be posted on the fs page.

I don't have a technical article on it but I usually start with the battery ground and then unhook everything that is in contact with the engine and trans. this includes axles, exhaust, coolant hoses, heater core hoses, wiring, fuel line, and ac lines after the pressure has been removed.

Thanks, I'm trying to have a plan going into it. I'm starting on it this weekend.

also I didn't realize this until after posting ^^^^ but there is a subframe under your engine and it has to be removed to pull the engine. also it connects to the hubs so when you pull it out theres no rolling the car around until it has a subframe back in it

Not sure that is true.
I will be doing the same thing soon, and intend to yank it from top.
It's not like the Sub is a cast part of the block/tranny.
It's gonna be easier for me than raising the car that high, I hope.

Alldata say to remove it from the bottom. If the car is destroyed just wrap a chain around the core support and lift the car with a cherry picker, and use a furniture dolly to support the subframe and engine/trans.

I just meant the "HAS to be removed" part...as in impossible.
I have dropped one before. It's just that this one is in my driveway, rough aggregate, not smooth concrete....and I was hoping maybe fewer bolts to yank from top, I may be wrong, gonna see.

Easiest way is to remove the subframe. Get your self a movers dolly and a long 2x4 (length of the subframe). this way the subframe sits on the 2x4 which sits on the movers dolly. you'll then need to jack the car up, set the dolly (&2x4) under the subframe lower the car onto the dolly ,remove a couple of bolts , pull the dolly out with subframe then jack the car up. Now you'll just need to position the dolly under the engine lower the car remove the mounts and bamn engine is sitting on your dolly. Simple when working alone

I just plucked my k20z1 from the top a few days ago. Disconnect everything, pop out axles. I chained a 14mm bolt through the exhaust mainfold and the other side through the trans with another bolt. Put a little pressure on it with the cherry picker and removed all mounts. Pulled straight out the top, easy breezy.

Yep, just pulled mine from top also with engine hoist. Took out the core support and rad. Cuz parting out anyway. Gave good access to engine to disconnect everything.
