1G Insight brake master cyl alternative/upgrade possible?
I have searched several forums and found one guy who used a 97 prelude but other than that, nothing. Any one here with any experience on this? I am using 04 civic LX calipers in front which might need a larger M/C? I would wait and see but with the engine out and the fact I'm already making new brake lines, now is a good time.

I did the same on mine with the 04 Civic calipers. I have not yet filled the brake fluid so no idea.
I did look up piston bores. Insight is 50.8mm and Civic is 54mm
So not only does the larger rotor and pad move brake bias forward so does the larger piston.
However putting the heavier engine in the front moves brake bias rear.
But we also removed ~140lbs of battery and electronics from the rear moving the bias forward again.
I am going to a larger high performance summer tire so that moves bias rear again.
I do like the high and tight brake. All my Hondas thus far have larger than stock master cylinders. Have to see what 6.2% increase in piston size does to the pedal feel.

2004 Civic EX master looks like it would fit. The mounting ears are in the same location and the threads are M10. Small upgrade 13/16 to 7/8. 15/16 or 1" would probably be better.
The 7/8 is 7.6% larger than the 13/16 so that might be a nice fit.

A small update, the 04 civic/RSX master cylinder doesn't fit but it looks like the S2000 will with a re routing of the brake lines, its also a 1". Ill have it mounted in a week or so and Ill post the result.

There is a small shaft that protrudes into the brake booster in the RSX style, S2K looks the same except its a 1" piston and the brake ports are on the opposite side.

I installed the S2K master cylinder today and it fits like a charm, keeping in mind you have to re route the brake lines. The original Insight brake fluid reservoir bolts right up as well.
