YS1 small spline transmission?
I seem to have a transmission that doesn't exist and I am looking for help.
I recently bought a 2nd gen B16A engine with YS1 LSD cable transmission on ebay (it's not what I paid for, but that's another story). I have verified that it is the 2nd gen B16A. The transmission still has the YS1 sticker on it and it's covered by so much old oil that, if it was switched, it had to be a long time ago.
I have done extensive searches on the YS1 on both honda-tech.com and on the internet. Everything says that the YS1 was only available on the 92-93 Integra and had the large spline mainshaft.
However, my transmission has two features that aren't supposed to exist:
1) It has the small spline (24 count) shaft, not the large spline (26) shaft that all YS1 transmissions are suppoed to have.
2) I did a count of the number of turns of the main shaft compared to turns of the axle shafts. The counts do not match that of the YS1 (either the GSR or the LS versions). Instead, they are exactly the same as the S1/J1 transmission from the 90-91 JDM Integra (3.230 1st gear, 2.105 2nd gear, 1.458 3rd gear, 1.107 4th gear, 0.848 5th gear, and 4.400 final drive). However, LSD is not supposed to be available on the S1/J1 transmissions, only the Y1 and YS1. (I have verified that this transmission has LSD.)
So, my transmission is labeled YS1, but has the small spline. It has the gears of the S1/J1, but it also has LSD. Anyone know what I have? What it is out of?
The lists I have seen show that LSD was an option on the CRX and Civic EF (Y1 transmission). However, there is no indication that LSD was an option on 90-91 Integras, which seems a little strange. Was there an LSD option on 90-91 Integras? Could it have been my transmission?

The informatin in your post seems to be accurate. It is very possible that the YS1 earlier in its life, was dissassembled and modified with different intenals. To my knowledge, all b series trannies made from 1992 onward are the big spline style.

sounds like some1 blew their ys1 and swapped the sticker onto a y1? pre-92 internals dont fit in 92-up trannies to my knowledge and it would prolly be a bitch to make them fit. but i guess anything is possible.

Re: YS1 small spline transmission? (wagon-r)
PM Katman or search his posts, in the archives. He's my B series tranny guru.
He'll know what's up.
Till then, try this. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=145523
