Re: Where did you get your engine? Overall experience with company? (EGinNJ)
I originally posted this on CSI, it's kinda long but I gotta get the word out. If you do decide to get your engine from K Watanabe, you might wanna read this first...
If you buy your engine/tranny from them be careful but DO NOT have them install it...I took my shiet in to the North Hollywood shop to get my stock SOHC D16A6 replaced (along with the tranny)...when I first picked it up the CEL came on after about 2 minutes (ended up as the O2 sensor) as well as the speedo cable wasn't attached. THey fixed that, but a month later I took it back to have them adjust the valves and get the oil changed(you have to take it to them and them only if you want warranty coverage on the install), it ran smooth for 2 days...I looked a little closer at the engine, they hadn't changed the oil, and had used the same plugs from before the old engine let go (I'm really sure that a volume shop like that is gonna use NGK V-Powers on every replacement they do...right)...after that the valves on the #1 cyl were so out of spec the car wouldn't stay started...had to pay $120 to get the car towed from Oxnard to North Hollywood (after being told by the shop manager, Keiji that I wouldn't have to pay anything if it was "a problem with the engine") and even though the car is now running, the same valves in question are ticking very badly (time for a cam and get the valves adjusted at the same time)...I checked them out on the Better Business Bureau website, and they have had a few complaints regarding non-repair and bad faith on warranty claims...my friend bought a B16A off of them and never had a problem though, so I guess the point is just be careful (and my suggestion would be to contact the main office in Lynwood rather than go through one of the satellite offices).

I thoroughly recommend Evan's Honda out of Newport, TN. Contact the service department and ask for Chuck.

While I have never bought a motor from them, I have had them do quite a bit of work to my car. Several people in the area have bought motors from them and had them do swaps with nothing but the best results. They have well over 1000 salvaged Hondas/Acuras in the junkyard. Chuck is a super nice guy and great to deal with..tell him Aaron Dockery sent you.

I bought a 1993 JDM RHD front clip of an Integra Si-G for 4500. Same **** as a 94 teg but the 10 more horses (B18C). I got it from Libero USA. They got good **** there and good service. Motor was never taken out of the car and it didnt come wid the sterring wheel I heard that watanabe cleans their motors wid water I know some people that went to nippon and my homey got his b16 for 850 at Libero. They also got a some type-rs, they had an MR-2 rear clip and i saw a skyline motor sitting there.

I wonder how many of you who bought motors from SohFast have had your block numbers checked....that wad sucker sold me 4 stolen motors...hmmm maybe that is why the FBI calls him almost daily now. And expensive as #%*@ if you are buying anything but a full swap.

GUESS WHO WORKED ON FULLY BUILT 10 SEC SUPRAs, RX7s,
and a grip of other cars which i had no experience with...
I not saying I had no clue how to turn a nut
I built a 53' bell air ground up (vettte motor and suspension 4whl disc, wired and plumbed everthing myself)
IM JUS SAYIN I HAD NOOOO EXPERIENCE WITH THESE CARS

Got mine from http://jspecengines.8m.com/home1.html. Shipped the damn thing out friday and it got here tuesday.. from CANADA! tell me thats not great service! Everything i needed for the swap. Its sitting at a warehouse and im about to pick it up. Ill let you knwo what kind of condition its in. 95 JDM GSR with LSD. Good stuff! Haha but i went to look at it today and they didnt wash it. It doesnt come with axels or shift linkage. Theres another 200+ for the swap... The distributer cap was nothing more than pieces of plastic stuck in the plug wires... all the wires were cut to ****... it seems in good condition but not quite what i was expecting. Ill let ya know when i unwrap it and inspect everything. Also not a single plug in any of the holes (throttle body, fuel line etc...).... im gunna end up spending another $400 because they didnt send stuff. You can get a better deal than this place.

http://www.jdmclub.com is a reliable source. I just received my complete H22 swap from them on Monday. Here are some pics of the motor before and after shipping:

I bought my setup from a local foreign salvage yard. They gave me a warranty and I installed the swap myself with the help of some of my friends. I couldn't be happier!

I love the engine, the best part is that it only has 10K miles on it.
How much did you pay for it?

I would like more info on these guys too, anyone?
I cannot stress how out of the way Steve will go to help you out. I've gone to him many times and have not been disappointed once, and send my friends to him too. Good biz.

I got my engine from "aceauto" out in cali, great customer service, and they will do what they can to make any wrong right. They also gave me a fair price, and free shipping.

I just placed and order with them yesterday for a 1st gen b16 long block. I placed it on line and called to confirm. I half didn't expect a call back since it was a saturday. But he did call me back. So we shall see in a week's time how it comes out.

Re: Where did you get your engine? Overall experience with company? (5gen-hybrid)
Hey 5th gen hybrid...you didnt happen to throw in the motor...and turbocharge it at the same time did you?Than start it up having problems?I've seen some people do the same thing and mess up on something as simple as ignition timing...go on a test run and blow the motor. And since the dude blows his motor he tells the shop to buy him a new bottom end and **** like that.I've seen garage kwai's work and have been to the shop.I am very impressed.

IMPORT AUTO SALVAGE ALL THE WAY!! very professional, everything you need for a swap is guaranteed to be there plus extra..when i first saw the motor i was like, WOW! even the catalytic converter was there w/ 02 sensor.. one click, the engine started w/ no hesitation or whatever..clutch doesnt slip, no grinds. the only thing i replaced was the axle seal on the passenger side w/c was like $4.00...very happy customer here..

I got mine from K. Watanabe. Mine came in excellent condition. Compression test was good, leak down test was good, and it came with A.C. and power steering. However, I have heard horror stories from others also.
