Which transmission for H2B build?
First, my apologies if this has been covered in another thread or even FAQ (I read, but getting more lost the more I read and have yet to find this information specifically)
I'm getting serious now with my plans to swap an H into my Sol yet I'm not sure what transmission to pair it with. All I heard is "a b-series transmission". I know they can't all be the same and there has to be some pretty significant differences among them. I've looked at hmotorsonline.com and found the engine I want, but what transmission do I request? I know hydraulic tranny, but what else besides that? LSD? Any specific model numbers or anything?

b16 - shorter gears
gsr - little bit longer gears
ITR- same as b16 gears with LSD
all have 4.4 finals unless you find a jdm itr trans
I would suggest an LSD but isnt 100% necessary.
Most use a b16 or gsr
What do you plan on using the car for?

Thanks for the great info 2fastGSR
This car will be a sporty DD that may eventually see track use when/if the whole project comes t'gether. So, with this, I'm thinking ITR tranny for the LSD

i have a gsr tranny. wish i went with itr just for the simple fact it would be a little quicker. i believe with either transmission, you will be happy.

gsr with mfactory 4.9 fd and quaife LSD
my vote would be an itr with the 4.7 for a N/A application that will be used for some racing. If its a dd, I would stick with a gsr and possibly upgrade the diff

I would definately go with a LSD, and with your all motor plan a jdm itr '98 spec (4.785fd) would be perfect

just wondering. . . what's your gas mileage like with that setup?
