Default tools for changing flywheel/clutch ( ring gear holder, or crank pulley wrench?)

you guys may know better since you do more engine work

Can I use the moroso crank pully wrench to hold the flywheel from spinning when I torque down the bolts? Any possibility that it can mess up the timing?

I know I can just buy the Ring Gear Holder from Acura, its about the same price as the crank pulley wrench...but if i buy the crank pulley wrench I can use it for other things

Right tools for the job....thats my thinking

So can I just use the crank pulley wrench??

Won't mess up the timing, but the flywheel bolts don't take much tq. I put a screwdriver thru one of the holes in the flywheel while I did the bolts

??? - 70 to 80 ft/lbs is a fair bit of torque matey!
---------

of course you can use hte crank pully wrench to hold the fly wheel still, but you better have 10ft arms or some other dude holding it!

or you can make your own ring-gear holder with a 12in x 1in piece of flat steel plate with holes drilled in each end.

one end attached to one of the pressure-plate bolts the other attaches to a bolt through hte gearbox mount holes...

(hard to picture, but works for me!)

t..
