here is a simple breakdown of what it should look like yes you just splice it inline your fuel wire use the middle and one of the outter ones if you do just the outter ones it wont work if the guage shows full before and then less than 3/4 after you do the mod simpley turn the pot all the way to the other side and give it a second to "fill" and adjust accordingly im going to wait to adjust mine till i have an empty tank so that it reads no bars instead of 2 if you have any question just let me know

I just got an ap2 cluster from an 06+ s2k

From reading I know I need the Speedohealer V4 with universal harness to make the speedo work from
http://www.procycle.us/main/speedo_healer.htm
and then the Modifry Unit ECT temperature Gauge Display Driver Module to make Coolant gauge work from
http://www.modifry.com/products/ect/index.htm

But reading the fine print for the ect temp gauge, it says that it is not compatible for 06+ clusters. Is there a way around this to make my cluster work? It is going in a DC

there is a writeup its just kind of in pieces its more of a guidelines i put and ap1 cluster in my ek in december and have had no problems with it yet except one but im still trying to figure it out (has something to do with my stereo) its pretty simple just make sure that the cluster you get has the plugs cus if it doesent then its a pain and involves alot of desolidering and solidering so your best bet is to get one with plugs you wanna get the universal speedohealer V4 cuz its got a long harness and you can put the speedo healer in a different spot under the dash (the different configurations are just different connector/harness setups but the actuall box is the same) the gas is as simple as connecting the old wire to a variable resistor pot from radio shack (50ohm max) and then to your new harness (ap1/ap2 plugs) pm me if you need some help and ill take some pictures of my setup and ill try and help you thru the setup.

i ground it to the grounds on the cluster but any ground should work. try grounding it to somewhere else. if it doesnt work.

i installed the rheostat what i did is just spliced an extra wire from the b10 plug to the middle hook of the rheostat. the gauge looks the same and was wondering if you adjust it left or right? i tried both ways and it reads the same as if i never hooked it up at all

the rheostat is a variable resistor. Just adding one wire from the B10 will do nothing, as you have noticed. the wire needs to be cut and one end goes to the middle post and the other end goes to either the right or left post. maybe do a little bit of research on what a rheostat or potentiometer is and how it works since you are just guessing at this point.
