pulling out the motor........
When you guys pull out the motor where do u bolt the chain that goes onto the hoist? I see most people bolting the chain to the header and intake manifold bolts but some people bolt it to the engine mounts while others bolt it to their valve cover bolts. what the "right" way of bolting on the chain?

dont bolt it there.
this is what i did
on the back of the head behind cylinder #1 there is a hole for a 14mm bolt. get a strong one and an engine lift chain
for the other bolt i used my starter bolt (the thick one)
worked great

used the hook from a civic or accord that fits behind cyl #1 like previously mentioned and the tranny bracket that the helms suggested.

Re: pulling out the motor........ (b18bpwr)
What i did is that i used the motor mounts, and wrapped the chain around the bolts and on the driver side i wrapped it around the motor mount and was just carefull that it wouldnt slip out. Doing it this way it only took me and my friend around 15min to just pull it out(that was kinda good considering it was our first time pulling out a motor). But I had to do them one at a time, and also make sure you have a good jack under neath the motor its a big help.

No chain here. I just got one of those tow ropes, the heavy duty kind. Strapped it around the trany motor and the mounts. And lifted that beast out.

However you can also slide the engine out the bottom, by jacking the car off the engine (off course after removing the engine mounts, and be sure to place and old tire for the engine to sit on or a small pallete).
By the way this is the fastest way to remove your engine and replace the engine with out an engine hoist guaranteed.
