Need some tips on engine removal/install
I want to take the engine out of my teg from underneath the car. Is it possible to remove and engine and line it up for instillation with a floor jack?
Any help is appreciated.

yes, its ez, just be carefully, when you jack the car up that high.
you can use a pallet w/ wheels to position the engine

Thanks for the reply.
I didn't want to drop the engine on a pallet though because I won't be able to get my car low enough.
That's why I want to use a floor jack to place under the engine and pull it out while the front end is off the ground. Do you think this would be hard to do?

if you can balance your heavy *** engine and tranny on a single or two jacks, then you should join the circuss full time...it im possible in my mind. if you use a pallet you can lower car frame enough to drop on pallet. this is my recommendation. its your project so you can attempt it any way you want, but i cant see using jacks under engine a smart thing to do.

If you install the engine and tranny separately it's not that hard to do without a hoist as long as you have another person helping out. I've done 4 swaps from underneath without using a hoist and had no problems at all. Actually it's faster than with a hoist putting it in from the top in my opinion.
We do the motor first lining up the driver's side mount. Then the tranny, and so on... I just installed a second gen B16A into a 94 Del Sol the day before yesterday using the "human hoist" method. If you have a little muscle then put it to some use

Sounds good. What did you use to line up the engine with the mounts? A dolly?
