just swapped and starter/fuel pump quit on me!
so we finished the swap and turbo and all is well when we start to dry crank the engine to build oil pressure. The fuel pump kicks on and the car cranks for 10 sec at a time and then......it dies after the 4th attempt. I blew a radio (guages connected to) fuse and a cooling fan fuse. (I possible could have hooked up my oil pressure gauge wrong, but all other gauges were working before the car was swapped)
SO...........
The headlights are bright and the battery isnt dead.......but the starter wont click or turn over at all, and the fuel pump wont kick on either. other than that the thing looks great and is ready to rock.

Try checking all your fuses. Usually if hear the fuel pump working and all of the sudden quit on you. Then it has something to do with the fuses. Also check if you're getting spark. And also what motor did you swap in what car with what turbo setup? And check if the firing order of the spark plug is right.

the plugs were out in order to prime the engine with oil.
i checked every fuse, it must be a relay or something
the starter and fuel pump will not kick on at all

??? all grounds no fried wires? what does that mean?
I have not checked the main realy, is it different than the fuel/starter relay?
i guess i just open the case and see if the solders are broken.

I mean check and make sure that you haven't melted the wires anywere. if you have a hynes or equivelent manual for your car it tells you where the main relay is and how to check it. and it is also really important that all of the grounds on the engine and in the engine bay are hooked up. if it is not grounded it could cause these type of problems.

Ok, I will go check it out.
where are the most of the grounds?
I have the one on the head and the one on the tranny, does the starter have a ground seperate of it being attached to the tranny (which is grounded)
If it was not grounded why did it crank over the first 4-5 tries?

there should be a ground for parts of the wiring harness on the thermostat housing i think. But it does sound more like you blew a relay or fuse or fried a wire or something like that but that could be caused by a bad ground.

well I wouldnt have the wrong relay would I.
Putting a 95 d16z6 inta a 92 hatch that was a DX
I also wired up a oil pressure gauge, could a improper ground of that cause things to go bad?!
I also used the starter from the dx motor but I dont see how they are different

I think all the relays are the same. i don't know if just addind the oil pressure gauge and wiring it up wrong would cause that. definatly wierd
