JDM type r can't use scan tool - No communication
I have a JDM type r motor in a 96 hatch and i've been riding with a dirty inspection, so I need to pass inspection or at least have it able to be on the scanner so i can buy/get a sticker. I have battery voltage, 12v and reference voltage 2.5v at the obd2 datalink connector, but i tried with a snap-on modis, and genesis scantool and couldn't get either one to communicate with the ecu. Ecu is a p73, obd2. Is it becuase its a jdm motor that i can't get the communication? or an underlying problem?? gimme a ratchet any day, this computer **** hurts my head

JDM OBD2 ECUs wont communicate with a scan tool. Post the full number on the ECU and I can tell you where its from.

*****. where am i gonna find a usdm type r ecu hah. oh well i really only need to use it to pass inspection, as poster said before, p72 obd2 ecu would work right? long as its usdm?
