F vs H blocks for build?
I'm planning an F/H build and so far I'm looking at either using a F22 or H22 or H23 block. I plan to use either the F23 VTEC or H22/H23 VTEC head. Likely building it for about 10:1 compression and the possibility of boost (planning to sleeve whatever I get). This will be a replacement for my b18c1 eventually. It can be a long term project.
I know the H22 has oil squirters, others don't appear to.
I'm assuming the larger main bearing diameter would be preferred.
The closer to square combustion chamber of the H22 would be better for a high revving (turbo) motor.
Bore is irrelevant since I'll be sleeving.
Is there are difference in the way the block is built on the F vs H, VTEC vs non-VTEC blocks? I see the H22 has a 90.7mm stroke and the H23 and F22 are 95mm. I'm ignoring the F23 and F20B due to the F23's oddball crank and the price of the F20B.

OK, there's a H22 local but it's the A1. I understand the difference is 50mm mains and a semi closed deck (don't matter, it'll be sleeved).
Does it matter what size mains? Let's say for a typical boosted application, would it be advantageous to spend the extra couple hundred on a h22a4? It's negligable compared to what the whole project will cost.

A lot of people are gunna hate on me, but... Look up G23. F23 block, H22 head, and you can use K20 internals (with a bit of modification), and makes stupid crazy power. I believe it makes the most power out of any frankenstein motor, and is comparable in power with J series... These little bastards rip, trust me, I know.

venus motors in sacramento ca sells f20b longblock with b series axles and obd1 dizzy for 800, my boy just bopught one today!!!! He is going f2b.
but if you plan on building the engine why not stroke an H block.
f23 crank and 99+ h22 block,
Take the block sleeve it run the 97 mm crank and the rods from the f (buy aftermarket f type rods) plop on a set of h pistons- put u 20 thous out of the hole, same as a STOCK f20b. gives u roughly 11.2 to 1 compression. no boost you should see 240 whp and 180 lbtq from like 3000 rpm to 8k.
you can do it with stock rods from the f as well, but since u said boost might as well build it right.
My friend who just bought the f20b did this exact build... sold it, went back to b series (regretablly) and now is f20b.
Its an easy cheap build that will give u oil squirters and a huge main girdle.

Usually You can get an h22 for the same price as an f20. I don't see the point in getting the smaller f20 unless you get some crazy deal.
